I have been a Special Education teacher at Brunswick Elementary for 11 years. I began my teaching career here in 1999 and have thoroughly enjoyed this community. The students and parents that I have had the opportunity to work with have truly been a blessing. I have learned so much from my students and appreciate the support I have received from their parents. I believe that students benefit a great deal when parents and teachers work together to educate our children.
I began my education at West Virginia University, with a focus in Social Work. Upon transferring to George Mason University two years later, I changed my major to Psychology. I graduated from GMU in 1994 with a Bachelor's in Psychology. I chose to continue my education at Hood College and received my teaching certificate in Special Education in 1999. I continued my studies at Hood College and received my Master's in Reading Specialization in the Spring of 2009.
My family and I reside in Sharpsburg, Maryland. I have a son and a daughter, as well as a household of pets! Our new dog, Snickers, takes up a lot of our free time. My two cats have not befriended him yet, but we're hoping for the best! In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, playing with my children, and spending time outdoors. My husband and I enjoy camping, canoeing, and fishing together. I also enjoy my time spent with the children's education programs at our church.
I look forward to another great year at BES. Please feel free to contact me at any time, with questions, concerns, or comments. Your input is important to me!
